John P. Kiggins

John P. Kiggins was born in 1868 in Nashville,Tennessee, then moved to Washington D.C. where he grew up. John Kiggins was 30 years old when he was married to Mary.J Connerton.He came to Vancouver, Washington while serving in the army. Kiggins decided to stay in Vancouver for the rest of his life. Kiggins was mayor of Vancouver in 1909 and holds the record for years in Vancouver. He lost his place as mayor 1912 to C.S. Irwin. During these years Kiggins was chairman of Clark County. Kiggins was not yet out of mayor's office. In 1928 Kiggins was mayor again. The Kiggins Bowl is a football stadium where high schoolers play. The Kiggins Theater is on 11th main st. On April 24,1936, the theater was opened. They say Kiggins showed city spirit and was a good role model. On May 21, 1941 John Kiggins died during an operation at the age of 72. Kiggins left behind his wife and thee sons and one daughter.
